ZIEGLER, Robert Edward “Ziggy”

Passed away in the evening of Sunday, September 26, 2021 surrounded by the ones he loves and in the comfort of his home, Milverton, Ontario.

Robert (Bob) was born 84 years ago in North Easthope Township, Ontario, son of the late Addison and Mildred (Cook) Ziegler. A local native of Milverton and a well-versed man in the town. Bob will be forever missed by his beloved wife Shirley Ziegler (Schauber-McClory) whom he married August 8, 1992. Devoted and loving father of Patricia "Kotter" Ziegler-Ignor (Marty), Danny McClory (Maxine), Jeff McClory, Cindy McClory (Tim Ryan), Philip McClory (Marita), and Bob Brook (partner of Bob’s son, Jim Ziegler). Cherished grandfather of Addyson Ignor, Rylee Ignor, Roger McClory, Aurora McClory, Theresa McClory, Amanda McClory, David McClory, Cassie Close (Jeremiah), Kara Mossey (Jeff), Jed Kipfer (Mary Lou), and Michael Luyk (Mallory). Great-grandfather of Andrea Carter, Callen Close, Daisy Close, Grayson LeBlanc-Mossey, Brynlee LeBlanc-Mossey, Reid Kipfer and Cohen Kipfer. Survived by his siblings; Larry Ziegler (Lynn), Wayne Ziegler (Kathy), Bill Ziegler (Joanne), Leonard Ziegler, Murray Ziegler (Donna) and Betty Bondy (Roy). He will also be missed by his sisters-in-law; Judy Ziegler, Kim Ziegler, Sharon Ziegler, Rose Crocker and Sharon Worth (Claire).

Bob is predeceased and now reunited with his sons Jim Ziegler and Michael McClory, granddaughter Nevaeh Ignor (in infancy), brothers; Ron Ziegler, Calvin Ziegler, Gerald “Hatz” Ziegler, sister; Margaret Ziegler (in infancy), sisters-in-law; Leona Ziegler, Sharon “Boots” Ziegler, Lenore Meyer (Bill), Betty Ranney (Jim), Maxine Schauber and Joan Stinson; brother-in-law Murray Schauber (Loa), and Bob Crocker, as well as by his father-in-law and mother-in-law Roy and Flora (Oesch) Schauber.

Ziggy was a loving and devoted husband, proud father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and a great friend to many. All who knew him will surely miss his quick whit, one-liners, sense of humour, and his friendliness - he would do anything for anyone. A 42-year member and past president with the Lions Club where he was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow Award for dedicated Humanitarian service. He was also recognized with the Pillar of the Community award in recognition of his valuable contributions to the Community of Milverton; as well as the ‘Nice Guy’ of the year award. Ziggy dedicated 30 years of service to the Perth County Board of Education working as a custodian in the Milverton Public School. In his spare time, Ziggy volunteered at Knollcrest Lodge and the Stratford Bingo Hall. When he wasn’t busy giving his time to the community, he enjoyed upholstering, 1000-piece puzzles, scratch and win tickets, his garden, and playing various card games or cribbage with family and friends. He simply had a genuine love for people and made every attempt to make you feel special.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 7 Spencer Street, Milverton, on Friday, October 1, 2021 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the funeral home on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Bonnie Schelter Brown officiating. Those wishing to view the service via livestream, a link will be made available. Interment to take place following in the Greenwood Cemetery, where Bob will rest beside his beloved son Jim.

Those wishing to attend the visitation and or service MUST RSVP on the funeral home website or by contacting the funeral home 519-595-8203. Face masks and social distancing must be followed.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Lions Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
