Kay, John David "Jack"

It is with saddened hearts that the family announces the passing of John "Jack" David Kay on Friday, December 11, 2020 at the Brantford General Hospital in his 83rd year. Loving husband to Sheila for 63 beautiful years. Father to daughters Barb (Tim), Brenna (Darcy) and Bonnie (Mark). Predeceased by daughter Brenda (1961). Grandfather to 7 grandchildren and Great- Grandpa to 8 great grandchildren.

Jack began his career in auto mechanics at Brant County Ford where he built his skills and reputation for 19 years prior to venturing out on his own and creating his own business, Jack Kay's Garage in 1976. Jack was at the helm until he passed the reins and decided to retire in 2008.

Jack was a proud and contributing member of his community serving on the St. George Lions Club for 50 years and serving as a volunteer with the South Dumfries Fire Department for 32 years, where he retired as Fire Chief of St. George Station #7. Jack was also a devoted member of the St. George Baptist Church where he served for several years as a deacon. We could go on forever extolling his accomplishments, but those of you who knew him are well aware of what an amazing man he was.

Jack will be remembered as a strong, beautiful man, a devoted husband, father and grandfather, trusted and loyal friend, confidante and advisor. We love him and will miss him. Matthew 11:28 " Come to me all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest". Family and friends will be received at Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Ave. Brantford, 519-752-4331 on Wednesday, December 16th, 2020 from 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm. A Private funeral service will be taking place by invitation only. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, face masks are required and social distancing is to be maintained.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Jack in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.

Goodbye is not forever
Goodbye is not the end
It simply means we'll miss you
Until we meet again.
