ERSIL, Peter 1966-2020

Peter Ersil passed away Thursday, April 2nd, 2020 at Stratford General Hospital.

Beloved husband of Bernadine Anne Ersil (née Ayres), the two were inseparable for the last 30 years. Treasured son of the late Vilibald (Bill) Ersil and Charlotte Ersil of Oshawa. Proud and devoted father of Julia, Sophia and Randy of Milverton. Loving brother of Dr. William Ersil of Kingston, Susan Uranowski (née Ersil) and her husband Andrew of Whitby, Edward Ersil and his wife Lisa of Ottawa, and Roger Ersil and his wife Kathryn of Bowmanville. Cherished uncle of Kim, Stephanie, Kristina, Joseph, Ben, Alex, James, Willow and Olivia. Beloved nephew of Karl-Heinz Ziegeldorf of Sydney, Australia and Alice Jukic of Hampton, Ontario. Fondly remembered by extended family throughout Canada, the Czech Republic, England, Australia, Vietnam, Germany, Spain and beyond. Peter was more than just a colleague to the staff and patients of Milverton Family Dental Centre, he was a true friend and mentor.

Peter was born in Port Credit, Ontario in 1966. Growing up in the Durham region, he was an avid athlete and played soccer for the Oshawa Turul Soccer Club, scoring the winning goal in the 1982 Canadian championship. He graduated from Queen's University with an Honours Bachelor of Life Sciences in 1989 and from the University of Toronto with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1993. Peter worked as a dentist treating patients in Perth County since December 1995.

Peter spoke English, German, dabbled in Czech and the universal language of music. Peter was constantly singing and quoting his favourite artists such as Harry Chapin, Shania Twain, and The Eagles.

An avid cyclist, Peter completed the Vatternrundan in Sweden in 2012 and many other rides including the Rideau Lakes, the Hilly Hundred, Spin the Lakes, CHEO Ride, and Tour de Norfolk in Delhi, often completing them multiple times.

Peter was a dedicated and extremely proud father. He taught his children to value family, travel, hard work, lifelong learning, serving others, laughter, cycling, table tennis, chess, soccer and, of course, dental hygiene. Peter was a tenacious, gregarious, fun loving, selfless pillar of his community.

A private funeral service will be held for family members only, with a public memorial to be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Lions Club of Milverton, Lymphoma Canada or the Grand River Hospital Cancer Clinic.
