Vogel, Stewart Julius

Passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Highview Residences, Kitchener at the age of 82.

Beloved father of Joanne Vogel of Chesley, and David and Paula Vogel of Drayton. Proud Papa of Tyler and Lily, and Chad. Loving partner of Shirley Laird of Wellesley. Brother of Leonard Vogel of Guelph.

Predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Kathryn (Habermell) Vogel, parents Harold and Nellie Vogel, and grandson Stewart John in infancy.

Stewart dedicated his life to his unique talent as a welder. He owned and operated Vogel Welding starting in 1969 and was renowned for his knowledge, expertise and innate ability working with metal. Stewart adored his grandsons and loved watching them grow. He was also a longtime member of St. James Lutheran Church and the Elmira Lions Club.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 4-7 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 15, 2023 at St. James Lutheran Church, 60 Arthur St. S., Elmira, followed by a reception in the church hall. Interment will be held in St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Elmira.

Donations in Stewart’s memory to Alzheimer Society Waterloo Wellington or Highview Residences Memory Care Centre would be appreciated, and may be made through the funeral home. A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Highview Residences for their excellent and compassionate care of Stewart during his time there.
