Grant, Cheryl Lynn
February 6, 1956 - October 16, 2023

Passed away peacefully at Innisfree House on Monday, October 16, 2023 at the age of 67.

Cheryl Lynn born to Gladys (nee Copp) and Clifford Grant on February 6, 1956 in Kitchener. Cheryl was the first born of 4 Grant siblings, Karen (Lynn) Finalyson, Michael (Catharine Johnston), and Angela Grant.

The family home was on Pleasant Ave and the neighbourhood provided many adventures and stories still recalled at family dinners. Cheryl was a proud Aunt to Holly (Herb) Ugale and Amanda Cook (Vaughn Davis), as well as a great-aunt to Phoenix, Xavier & Hendrix Ugale and Olivia & Maddie Davis.

Family was always a cornerstone in her life and she was so grateful for all of the wonderful memories and traditions of the Grant Family unit.

Cheryl has worn many hats over the years, but her most cherished role of all was a devoted and loving mother to Andrew. Her world was Andrew and she gave all of herself to being his biggest fan, laugh track, and support system to him. The bond that they shared between a single mother and only child was one of a kind, leaving them with memories that will last forever. Her love extended to Tamara as she entered Andrew's life, as they were able to share an amazing bond that was filled with love, friendship, admiration, and support over multiple decades.

Cheryl flourished in her most important role as Grammie. Brianna and Lauryn will forever be her greatest joys. They are the fruits of her labour as a single mom turned to doting grandmother. Watching them grow into beautiful, kind, and talented young ladies will forever be her most joyous moments.

Cheryl's life was also dedicated to her 36 plus year career at Bell Canada. The connections from Bell made her job so fulfilling. She loved her role in Facilities Administration, and was very grateful to have a career that allowed her to provide and give Andrew a comfortable upbringing.

Cheryl was a talented actor and enjoyed being on the stage. Many amazing connections, memories, and shows filled her life with so much bliss.

In retirement, Cheryl gave her time to many volunteer organizations, bringing her amazing essence wherever she went. Her involvement meant there was always laughter and light. Her community of friends are second to none. She had a way of connecting with people that made you feel her love, warmth, and kindness.

Her role as Grammie also extended her love and influence to all of the beautiful little souls of Monkey Business Childcare (Tamara's business) in her retirement. Grammie was a staple of love, cuddles, and support as a volunteer and so much more. She made amazing connections with everyone in the Monkey Biz family.

Cheryl was supported by many in her hard times and the blessed ones, but it was the network that was there for her in all the times between that held a special spot in her heart. She was so fortunate to have had a life filled with so many wonderful friends, as well as friends that became family.

Cheryl, Andrew, and Tamara are beyond thankful to everyone that supported them during this challenging time. The months spent at Innisfree were an amazing blessing. The unbelievable care allowed Cheryl to have meaningful time with loved ones. Cheryl lived a life of kindness and always wanted to leave the world better than she found it. Her life is a reflection of this mantra. We are all better for knowing and loving her.

In typical Cheryl-fashion, she never wanted to pressure anyone to donate. However, some of her favourite charities are the Canadian Cancer Society, Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada, MS Canada, Innisfree House, Therapeutic Touch Network of Ontario, and Big Brothers & Big Sisters.

A Celebration of Cheryl's life will take place on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener (519-749-8467). There will be visitation from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Following the visitation at 5:00-6:30 p.m. there will be tributes and light refreshments.

Cheryl requested that everyone wears colour. She wanted this to be a colourful celebration. This event will be child-friendly. We welcome friends and family to come and join in the reminiscing and celebration of Cheryl's life.
