Environment - Youth - Hunger - Vision

At a time when community resources are strained to the breaking point, Lions everywhere have come together to stand in the gap. This is where we really shine. We adopt highways. We feed the hungry. We plant trees. We build parks, trails and playgrounds. We invest in our youth, providing leadership opportunities and helping to eliminate bullying. We support and raise dollars for hospitals, seniors' homes, arenas, and recreational complexes. We provide service dogs. We make a real difference in our communities and around the world, both past, present and into the future. Yes, Lions have a lot of accomplishments over the last 100 years.

In order to look to the future though, we should learn from our past. Not just the successes, but also the failures. We need to build on our past accomplishments and continue to improve, preparing each new generation of Lions to meet the challenges. What we do or don't do today will affect the future, even if we do nothing. We need to decide what kind of future we want to pursue and plan accordingly.

Mahatma Ghandi said, "Be the change you want to see in the world."

As we celebrate 100 years of service, I challenge you to work together to continue the legacy of working to improve our environment, helping our youth achieve their potential, fighting hunger and to continue the struggle to rid the world of vision threats as we remain Hellen Keller's "Knights of the Blind."

Please consider using the Lions Forum, a discussion Bulletin Board. Until you, the Lions of A-15, start using it, it will remain empty!

To add anything to the Forums, you will need to register for the site with a username and password, and you will need to answer a skill-testing Lions question. Then I need to activate your registration. That's a lot of effort for each of you just to get started, but unfortunately, it has to be that way unless we all want to read about on-line pharmacies selling little blue pills and member enhancement potions :-(

Once you are registered, you will be able to start discussions ("Topics") and participate in those started by others.

I truly hope this will help to spread information. That way you don't need to ask me or someone on Cabinet to advertise - just do it!
